What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website puts on your device. A few are needed for the site to work. The rest tell us how people use it, which helps us make it better.

This page lists the ones we use. Our privacy policy covers everything else we do with personal information.

Cookies we need

These keep the site working and remember what you chose about the others. They cannot be switched off.

crumb — a security check that stops a form on our site being submitted from somewhere else. Lasts until you close your browser.

ss_performanceCookiesAllowed — remembers whether you agreed to the measurement cookies, so we stop asking. Lasts 30 days.

ss_marketingCookiesAllowed — remembers your answer about marketing cookies. We do not currently set any. Lasts 30 days.

Cookies that measure how the site is used

These are only set if you agree. Until you do, none of them exist on your device. They tell us how many people visit and which pages they read. They do not tell us who you are.

_ga — Google Analytics. Gives your browser an anonymous ID so repeat visits are not counted twice. Lasts about 13 months.

gaGNS5XEM7T4 — Google Analytics. Keeps track of a single visit. Lasts about 13 months.

ss_cvr — Squarespace’s own analytics. Records that you have visited before. Lasts about 13 months.

ss_cvt — Squarespace’s own analytics. Measures how long a single visit lasts. Lasts 30 minutes.

One thing worth saying plainly

Even if you decline, your browser still contacts Google when the page loads, and that request carries your IP address and some basic information about your device. Nothing is stored on your device and we receive no report about you. We mention it because we would rather tell you than not.

Changing your mind

Your answer is remembered for 30 days, after which we ask again. To change it sooner, clear this site’s cookies in your browser and the banner will reappear.

Every browser also lets you block or delete cookies for any site, usually under Privacy or Security in the settings. Blocking all cookies will stop parts of this site working.
